In honor of #TBT, Marijuana.com offers up a slice of Hemp History every Thursday to educate and entertain our readers.
Matthew McConaughey is a favorite around these parts and for good reason: the man has been openly smoking weed and playing the bongos before it was fashionable for celebrities to embrace marijuana.
And while his personal use connects him to the cannabis community, McConaughey’s signature stoner moment came when he landed the role of Wooderson in Dazed and Confused. Thankfully, earlier this week, the Wooderson audition tape surfaced and has since gone viral, amassing over two million views thus far.
As you’d expect, McConaughey was simply a natural fit for Wooderson, and it’s a shame the role was never reprised. See for yourself:
If Hollywood ever decides to make a sequel to this stoner classic, Wooderson’s inclusion would be a requisite and ideally, the central character. Should that film ever occur, I would envision a now 40-year-old Wooderson slinging dime bags outside the arcade, stuck in a rut, and ultimately deciding it’s time to get his act together.
And by get his act together, I mean moving to Colorado and opening a massive and legal operation. Because while McConaughey may have aged, that’s nothing a little make-up job couldn’t fix–and high school girls have indeed stayed the same age.
